Pet’s Day Out

Downward dog with your own dog

Doga – yes, that’s right, Dog Yoga – is coming to this year’s Pets’ Day Out.

A unique, fun way to get people active, the Dog Yoga sessions will combine basic calming yoga poses with people’s own four-legged friend, within a fully-fenced area.

“Goat Yoga at last year’s Pets’ Day Out was a real hit. This year people can bring along their own dogs and have a bit of fun with Doga,” said PARC Health and Fitness Manager, Shannon Mounsey.

“Animals can provide both physical and psychological health benefits to humans, and we know yoga also has countless benefits. So why not combine the two? Experts say a ‘Doga’ session can leave dogs feeling happy and ‘important’ and help them avoid bad behaviour.”

“A big part of PARC’s work is providing everyone the opportunity to get active, so this is a unique, fun and relaxed way to get people outside and involved in some exercise,” said Shannon. “We look forward to seeing people laughing their way through the Doga sessions and leaving feeling happy and refreshed.”

The 20-minute sessions will start every half hour and are suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Bookings are a must, book online here.

Doga marks the beginning of PARC’s free community yoga and the PARC Paws Walk on the group exercise timetable.

Pets’ Day Out is on Sunday 13 October 2019, 10am–3pm at Ballam Park in Frankston.

Pets’ Day Out is a free event organised by Frankston City Council.
