Celebrating 10 Years of the MY Fun Run Mount Eliza
My Fun Run Mount Eliza is celebrating their 10 Year anniversary this year! We are so excited to be supporting this event for its 10th year of bringing together community and raising important funds for blood cancer research. Since 2017, the MY fun run Mount Eliza has raised more than $500k to fund lifesaving and life-changing blood cancer research. These tremendous fundraising efforts have gone on to fund:
- Their first project, being undertaken by Epworth Healthcare will determine if blood tests, known as circulating tumour (ctDNA) assays can replace invasive bone marrow biopsies in certain cases of multiple myeloma and related blood cancers.
- Their second project, being undertaken by the Peter MacCallum Cancer centre, looks to advance Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-Cell therapy. CAR T-Cell therapy is an immunotherapy that uses a patients’ own immune system to destroy cancer cells using specifically altered T-cells. It is one of the most revolutionary advances in medical science in recent years.
