Assets update: What’s been happening behind the scenes at PARC

As we wrap up the year, we reflect on the improvements and upgrades completed at PARC this year. Our building, now a decade old, requires planned works and closures to keep everything running smoothly and safely.

This year, in partnership with Frankston City Council, our Asset and Facilities team completed 1,031 planned and reactive maintenance and upgrade projects. Some of these are noticeable, like the landscaping out the front of PARC, and others you wouldn’t even notice it had happened.

Over the last few months, here are some of our recent asset improvement works, including:

Spa and Warm Water Pool jet pump upgrade – Destination relaxation

After receiving member feedback about the Warm Water Pool and Spa jets, the Asset and Facility team completed a project to upgrade the jet pumps. The replacement jet pumps are larger, more powerful models, enhancing the intensity of the jets and will deliver a consistently strong water stream. This significantly improves the spa experience for all members and guests. We also completed these works in stages, to minimise impacts to users.

Pool Filter service & surface upgrade – A better swim experience

After 10 years of use, the tiled surfaces in our pools were replaced and our Learn to Swim, Spa and Warm Water Pool filters were successfully serviced. With these vital upgrades complete, our pools are now in top condition, ready to provide a clean, safe, and relaxing environment for all.

Waterslide and playground improvements – Sliding into success

The waterslides and aquatic playground have undergone several renovations to enhance the durability and safety of the facilities, including a fresh coat of paint to keep it looking fresh and new. Furthermore, an upgrade to the slide tower’s air conditioning unit will help members and lifeguards stay cool this summer.

Carpet replacement project – That fresh carpet feel

Marine-grade carpet was installed in several high-traffic areas to provide a safer and more practical surface for members and patrons. The new carpet gives the following areas a fresh new, look and feel!

  • Front entrance, reception and foyer areas
  • First-floor spaces (replacing the previous blue flooring)
  • Members’ change rooms
  • Cycle studio

Cafe renovation – Brewing up something good

Our recently renovated cafe floor and brand-new coffee machine create an improved, safer workspace for our staff.

Rainwater System upgrade – Committed to sustainable choices

The rainwater system was upgraded and enhanced to top up the 50m and Learn-to-swim pools. The water from the 156,000L rainwater tank undergoes treatment through multiple disinfection systems before being introduced into the pools, ensuring safety and quality. This upgrade results in substantial water savings, improving PARC’s commitment to sustainability.

What’s coming?

Safety and efficient operations remain a focus for Peninsula Leisure and Frankston City Council’s Facility Teams for PARC in 2025.

We are locking in some major projects over the next few weeks, with the most significant being Centre re-painting and re-tiling in some areas.

At PARC, we are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality facilities and experiences. From refreshed spaces to enhanced features, we have been working hard to make your experience even better. Thank you for being part of our journey and we can’t wait to share more exciting asset updates in the year ahead.
