Member Spotlight – Tanya Macrae

Meet Tanya – a dedicated nurse, mum of two toddlers, and a SES Road Rescue volunteer.

Tanya not only keeps up with her two little ones, but also meets the demands of her role as an SES volunteer, where she is required to pass seven different fitness and strength tests. Since joining Small Group Training with Nic Hough, Tanya has achieved incredible results. We are so impressed by her dedication and progress.

Read on to learn a bit more about Tanya’s journey.

1.What made you want to start Small Group Training?
To be fitter and stronger.

2.What do you love most about Small Group Training?
The friendships that I have formed with my group and my Trainer Nic. They make the sessions fun, but we train hard. I also enjoy the challenge of lifting weights and seeing what I’m capable of doing.

3. What is something you are most proud of/goal that you achieved?
Most recently I’m proud that I was able to pass the new fitness and strength tests as an SES Volunteer. There are 7 tests we need to pass to be able to perform our SES duties. As a Road Rescue volunteer, some of the exercises I had to complete included:
– Lifting 15kgs up over my head with one arm in front and palms down, hold at shoulder height for 5secs and then rest for 10secs and then repeat.
– Completing a 4km hike while carrying a 10kg load in under 55mins through obstacle of high step ups and single arm farmers carry of 30kg for 120metres.

I was unable to perform these tasks previously, but my Small Group training sessions have helped me gain strength and confidence.

4. What is your advice for anyone wanting to be more active but not sure where to start?
Find some like minded people to support and motivate each other. I found Small group helped me do that.

Well done Tanya!

Bright bathers = safer swimmers 🌈🩳

Our PARC Swim team demonstrate that when it comes to swimwear for little ones, the right colour can matter!

🟡 Bright colours like neon orange, pink, yellow or lime green can be easier to spot.
🔵 While some dark or pale colours and may disappear in busy pools or in open water.

As we enter the height of Summer, and more of us in and around water, help your children stand out for all the right reasons!

Go bright, go bold, and stay safer around water!
