The programs in detail
According to Royal Life Saving Australia’s National Drowning Report, over 40% of children leaving primary school do not meet the national swimming and water safety benchmark. With summer fast approaching, our goal is to ensure every member of our community has the confidence and knowledge to stay safe in and around the water. Our Pre-Teen Life and Teen Life programs combine practical, hands-on learning with fun, engaging activities designed to build essential skills and confidence in the water.
Commitment:
- One 45-minute in-water session per day, across 3 days
- Optional 30-minute activity after each session — experience a skate lesson with our skate team, a cycle class with our health and fitness crew, or a laughter-filled inflatable session in the pool
- A short survey at the start and end of the program to help us measure participant confidence and learning outcomes
These programs are designed for:
- Pre-teens (10–12 years) who may have paused lessons before mastering essential water safety skills
- Teens (13–17 years) who have had little or no access to swimming education
Participants will learn how to:
- Stay safe and confident in and around water
- Recognise and respond to danger
- Support others in aquatic environments
- Beyond teaching vital water safety skills, these programs help young people build confidence, form friendships, and feel empowered around water — creating safer swimmers and a safer community.
