New ‘smart’ gym at PARC

New ‘smart’ gym at PARC Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre has unveiled its new gym, including new ‘smart’ cardio and weights machines, virtual fitness classes and a new online booking system. The gym upgrade has been designed with the needs of members and guests firmly in mind. “Members told us they want more functional training programs and spaces, and they want to feel more connected to their gym program. Member feedback is really important to us – it informs our decisions and drives us to continually innovate and remain a leader in the industry,” said PARC Centre Manager Simon Beqir. The new gym includes:
  • State-of-the art ‘smart’ cardio and weights machines
  • Virtual fitness classes
  • Online booking system
  • More space for stretching and mobility
“We are committed to providing top-quality facilities and chose this new equipment after looking world-wide for the best solution to meet our member’s needs,” said Simon. Fully-connected ‘smart’ cardio and weights machines have been installed, with sensors that monitor performance and provide real-time information to support members in their workout. “The new machines are state-of-the art. They can track heart rate, count the number of reps performed, time specific movements and even tell you which leg is stronger on the bike. This extra information will help members connect to their program and achieve their health, fitness and wellness goals sooner.” PARC recently installed large 4.5m x 3m screens in two class studios, allowing for virtual fitness classes and immersive experiences during instructor-led classes. “Members will now be able to enjoy virtual fitness classes, so in off-peak times they can still participate in the classes they love. These classes are on an additional timetable, taking the total number of weekly classes to over 250,” said Simon. The new online booking service will make it quicker and easier for members to book classes in advance via the My PARC app, PARC website or in-Centre. “We are excited to welcome our members to the new-look gym and support them to make the most of the new equipment and technology. Thank you to all our members, guests and staff for your patience while work was underway – we assure you, the wait is well worth it,” said Simon. Members can register for the online booking system by downloading the My PARC app from Apple iTunes or Google Play.   Members can get a new program by booking an appointment to see a trainer.
