Peninsula Leisure CEO moves on after six fulfilling years

I have been privileged, as Peninsula Leisure CEO, to enjoy six very rewarding years of leading a remarkable group of people. It was not an easy decision to move on, however, with an exciting new opportunity presented it felt like an appropriate time to move on to my next challenge.

My favourite aspect of PL success over the past 6 years has been the evolution of the Company culture, a way of working that truly aligns the employee and customer experience, resulting in an impressive and committed Team, who are dedicated to delivering great customer experiences, at all times. It is the people, both staff and members, that I will miss most.

However, nothing prepared us for CV19. It is been an incredibly tough period with PL staff losing so much work, causing hardship for many of our 300 strong PL Team. As a leader it has been devastating to see the PL staff not receive the same financial support, as other organisations, however, in the toughest of circumstances, the PL people shone brightly and always found a way to support each other. I will deeply miss this culture of caring.

I have so much to thank PL for, from professional growth through to introducing me to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula region, a place that my family now call home. It has been a wonderful journey.

As I leave PL, I know the organisation is positioned strongly to succeed. Ian Kerwin will take the CEO role in an interim capacity, with operations in very good hands with Shannon and the Team.

One of the strongest aspects of the PL structure is that we have the best of the industry leading the key functions of the organisation, and although there have been a few keys losses through the COVID period, we still have an exceptional team in place to guide the Company forward.

As always, Frankston Council have committed to supporting PL, ensuring that the Company has everything it needs to rebound from COVID-19 and maximises the opportunities that present as restrictions ease. Rest assured we remain focused on delivering success, continuing to support our community, including our members and valued staff.

Thanks to our community for all your support over the past six years, I look forward to seeing you around the Centre as I return as a member for my regular PT sessions!

Have you heard of Incidental Exercise? 🧹🚶‍♀️

Incidental exercise is physical activity that occurs naturally as part of your daily routine! It’s the small bursts of activity you accumulate throughout the day, such as carrying in the groceries, or playing with the kids, that helps you achieve your 30-20-2.

Some examples of Incidental Exercise are:
- Doing housework like vacuuming, mopping, or gardening
- Walking up stairs instead of taking elevator or escalator
- Parking further away from your destination to get your steps up
- Walking during lunch breaks, or having a standing meeting

Remember, all movement counts! 🌟

For more information about 30-20-2, or helpful resources and workouts to get you moving, head to our Digital Hub.

Help us ensure PARC is a safe venue for the whole community to enjoy 🏊

At PARC, we participate in the statewide Watch Around Water program. Watch Around Water is an education and public awareness-raising program that defines the minimum supervision requirements for children in a pool setting.

When visiting PARC, your child will be given a coloured wristband, based on their age. These wristbands help our lifeguards identify the level of supervison required for your child, and support a safe aquatic environment for everyone.

Did you know that our vision is that 'Every Child In Frankston Can Swim'? 🌳👶

The Rotary Peninsula 2.0's Birth Tree is one way that's helping us to achieve this vision.

By joining this year’s Birth Tree, you will receive a timeless tribute of your loved one in the form of a tree and plaque. Equally importantly, $45 of every contribution goes straight back to the community to help more children build confidence in the water, with free infant swimming lessons through the Can Swim initiative. 🏊

You can purchase a place for a baby born this year on the Birth Tree here: https://events.humanitix.com/parc-2026-birth-tree-and-family-garden
