The state’s best seasonal outdoor pool scheduled to open for summer

The warm weather is upon us, and things are heating up in Frankston North with the PINES Forest Aquatic Centre opening for the 2023/2024 summer season on Wednesday 1 November.

Pines outdoor pool is a much-loved feature of the Frankston North community overs summer, who have been waiting eagerly to get back in the water while the facility has been closed.

Pines Forest Aquatic Centre was recently awarded Facility of the Year (Seasonal) at the Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) Awards. These awards recognise outstanding commitment to the Aquatics and Recreation sector, and celebrate Pines’s leading aquatic spaces, and importantly, their welcoming community.

Peninsula Leisure CEO Kath Thom said staff have been working hard over the winter months to prepare the pools for a busy summer.

“All the pools are looking great for another big outdoor pool season,” Ms Thom said.

Have you heard of Incidental Exercise? 🧹🚶‍♀️

Incidental exercise is physical activity that occurs naturally as part of your daily routine! It’s the small bursts of activity you accumulate throughout the day, such as carrying in the groceries, or playing with the kids, that helps you achieve your 30-20-2.

Some examples of Incidental Exercise are:
- Doing housework like vacuuming, mopping, or gardening
- Walking up stairs instead of taking elevator or escalator
- Parking further away from your destination to get your steps up
- Walking during lunch breaks, or having a standing meeting

Remember, all movement counts! 🌟

For more information about 30-20-2, or helpful resources and workouts to get you moving, head to our Digital Hub.

Help us ensure PARC is a safe venue for the whole community to enjoy 🏊

At PARC, we participate in the statewide Watch Around Water program. Watch Around Water is an education and public awareness-raising program that defines the minimum supervision requirements for children in a pool setting.

When visiting PARC, your child will be given a coloured wristband, based on their age. These wristbands help our lifeguards identify the level of supervison required for your child, and support a safe aquatic environment for everyone.

Did you know that our vision is that 'Every Child In Frankston Can Swim'? 🌳👶

The Rotary Peninsula 2.0's Birth Tree is one way that's helping us to achieve this vision.

By joining this year’s Birth Tree, you will receive a timeless tribute of your loved one in the form of a tree and plaque. Equally importantly, $45 of every contribution goes straight back to the community to help more children build confidence in the water, with free infant swimming lessons through the Can Swim initiative. 🏊

You can purchase a place for a baby born this year on the Birth Tree here: https://events.humanitix.com/parc-2026-birth-tree-and-family-garden
