Family fun this weekend: Create a backyard obstacle course

While the weather is still good and you want the kids to get out of the house but not outside the fences, get them outside in the backyard and build an obstacle course!
Get those creative little minds happening and better still their bodies active, running around the backyard. Things like crawling, hopping, running, balancing and jumping will all work their bodies and leave them feeling pumped and ready for a good night’s sleep!
For a good obstacle course all you’ll need is what lying round the house, items might include:
  1. Cardboard boxes for crawling through
  2. Planks of wood for balancing
  3. Hoola Hoops for agility work or jumping
  4. Laundry baskets for collecting balls, sledding or climbing into upside down
  5. Ladders for jumping or hopping
  6. Egg and spoon for coordination and balance
  7. Outdoor toys like pools that you can throw balls into or sliding down or climbing over
  8. Skipping ropes for jumping
  9. Yoga mats for rolling
  10. Buckets for transporting water from A to B
Get the kids to try and beat their PBs and see if they can make the course easier or harder. It will have them amused for hours and on top of that they’ll be keeping their minds and bodies healthy and active.
