Strong for Life Program
All seniors are VIPs this October at Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre, with exclusive access to a range of free activities – whether they are a PARC member or not. The activities are part of the Victorian Seniors Festival which supports seniors to get ‘out and about’ in their local community. A walking group, low intensity circuit workouts, gentle aerobic workouts and a dog walking group are part of the PARC activities for seniors this October. PARC Health and Fitness Manager Shannon Mounsey said the centre supports local seniors with a range of health and wellbeing programs. “Ensuring everyone has opportunity to be active is a key goal for PARC,” said Shannon. “We support our local ageing community by offering activities for seniors to stay active and connect socially with one another.” “Seniors should be doing at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity everyday to help keep their heart, lungs, muscles and bones healthy. Our extra activities for seniors this October are in addition to over 260 weekly classes available for members and visitors.”
The specific Seniors Festival activities at PARC this October:
  • Walking group – every Monday at 9.30am. Meet in PARC foyer to walk to Beauty Park. 
  • Movers Active – every Friday at 11.30am on the Gym Floor.
  • Movers Aerobic – every Tuesday at 12.10pm in Studio 1.
  • PARC Paws walk – every Saturday at 8.30am.  Meet at the rear of the Centre near the waterslides.
To book, call 9781 8444. Bookings are limited and are available one week in advance. Any seniors joining as a member of PARC during October pay $0 joining fee.

It's Aquatic Awareness Week!

This week, our PARC Swim members have been learning lifesaving, water safety skills to continue building their confidence in and around water. Here's a snippet of some of the things they have been learning about this week:

🐠 Water safety around the home
🐟 Water safety in alternate waterways such as rivers and lakes
🐡 Experience swimming in realistic situations outside of class (wearing PJ's and no goggles!)
